Sports Premium
Featherby has a long standing history of sporting achievement.
We pride ourselves on a wide and varied sporting curriculum which develops the pupils social and emotional health as well as physical. At Featherby we have specialised sports coaches who work with the children and teachers to help deliver games and sports actvities. We have an extremely wide selection of afterschool clubs as well as our sports coaches working across play times and lunch times to lead games and play at these times.
One focus of our sporting coaches is providing gifted and talented provision for those children who excel at specific sports. As part of the mini-youth games and other links to schools or competitions, the children enjoy experiencing tournaments and opportunities to complete with children from other schools across Kent and Medway.
What is the Primary Sports Premium?
The primary ‘sport premium’ funding for primary schools has been designed to help schools in a variety of ways. Allocations are calculated using the number of pupils in Years 1 to 6. This funding is provided to primary schools to spend on improving the quality of sport and PE for all their children. The sports funding can only be spent on sport and PE provision in schools.
Some of the outcomes we hope to meet through the 'Sport Premium' Funding are:
- Increased opportunities for competitive sport.
- Improved quality of teaching and learning in Primary Physical Education, including exercise that is more dynamic in lessons.
- Improvements in the quality and breadth of PE and sporting provision, including “increasing participation in PE and sport so that all pupils develop healthy lifestyles and reach the performances levels they are capable of.
We have planned our PE spending carefully to ensure that it is spent to maximum effect.
